What Im Reading

Just finished
The Second Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares (Just as fabulous as the first book...in my top 50 books of all time)
The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd (She's one of my favorite authors. It's about losing yourself and finding yourself again, infidelity, love, home, and the sacred feminine. She has an affair with a monk. Her mother starts chopping off her own fingers. There's a chair carved like a mermaid with special powers. All on an island off the coast of North Carolina. Fabulous!!)
Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise by Ruth Reichl (Apparently, being a food critic for the NY Times is a really big deal. In order to get an accurate sense of the food and service, she has to devise elaborate disguises and new personalities when trying new restaurants. A bit arrogant and self indulgent, but fun. Im not a total foodie since being a vegetarian eliminates about 90% of the gourmet food out there, yet I enjoyed how much she really enjoys food. It was interesting to read how these new personas revealed a lot about her self and her own flaws.)

Working on
The Secret Life of Nature: Living in Harmony with the Hidden World of Nature Spirits from Fairies to Quarks by Peter Tompkins (Fruity, but interesting.)
Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver (Love it. Love her. So good. I think I underline something on every page.)

On Deck
Marriage, A History: From Obedience to Intimacy, or How Love Conquered Marriage by Stepanie Coontz
Couldn't Keep It To Myself: Testimonies From Our Imprisoned Sisters by Wally Lamb and the Women from York Correctional Institute
Green Living: The E Magazine Handbook for Living Lightly on the Earth by E Magazine
Crossworld: One Man's Journey into America's Crossword Obsession by Marc Romano
The Unseen by Xilpha Keatley Snyder (a teen book)
Borges and the Eternal Orangutans by Luis Fernando Verissimo
