From January 27th
Working here at the law library, I learn many new words as the books cross my desk. Granted, I’m not always interested in the books themselves, but I love an interesting sounding word. Here are a few, thanks to the services of dictionary.com.
Moxie:
1. The ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage.
2. Aggressive energy; initiative.
Fungibility:
1. Returnable or negotiable in kind or by substitution.
2. Interchangeable.
Lucubrations:
1. Laborious study or meditation.
2. Writing produced by laborious effort or study, especially pedantic or pretentious writing.
Replevin:
1. An action to recover personal property said or claimed to be unlawfully taken.
2. The writ or procedure of such an action.
Nasciturus: This is Latin for the word “fetus.”
